The Foundation does not review unsolicited grant proposals.
Our team usually builds relationships with those working in the Texas postsecondary space and invites proposals based on those relationships. Depending on supported work and anticipated deliverables, we make both project and general operating grants.
Grants of $50,000 or less may move through an expedited and simplified application process and are approved on a rolling basis as invited. Grants up to $200,000 require a full proposal developed in partnership with the Foundation program officer but may also be approved on a rolling basis as invited.
All grants of more than $200,000 are approved at one of four quarterly Foundation board meetings: March, June, September, or December. Invited applicants should expect to collaborate on a proposal during the 2-3 months before the anticipated board meeting.

We also learn from those working in the field to identify investment opportunities that result in open requests for proposals in targeted areas.
When the Foundation opens Requests for Proposals (RFPs), we share the details on this page and through our email list. The application and review process may vary depending on the RFP.
Examples of previous RFP processes are provided below.
